The Plasma smelting technology uses the high-temperature hot plasma produced by the plasma torch and the electrode to quickly decompose and destroy the hazardous waste, in which the organic matter is pyrolyzed into flammable small molecular substances. The inorganic matter is melted at high temperature to form vitreous residue.This technology has the characteristics of fast reaction speed, small secondary pollution, wide application range and stable operation. It overcomes the shortcomings of traditional treatment technologies, such as incineration and chemical treatment, which include large secondary pollution, complex process, selectivity of waste treatment, pure plasma instability and so on. It is especially suitable for the detoxification treatment of solid hazardous wastes such as fly ash from municipal solid waste incineration, fly ash and bottom slag from hazardous waste incineration, fly ash and bottom slag from hazardous waste pyrolysis and gasification, etc, meeting the improvement of final-stage solid waste disposal technology that future industrial economic development requires.
Melting provides good conditions for thermal treatment of slag (fly ash), and uses external heat source to realize the complete treatment of inorganic solid waste. The slag (fly ash) is mixed with the formula and enters the melting pool from the top of the melt pool, then melted by the high temperature jet or electrode produced by the plasma generator into vitreous fluid, and then discharged from thedischarge device at the bottom, where it starts to cool into solid glass material. Most of the non-volatile metallic elements and their compounds in slag (fly ash) are trapped into the glass solid.
